I am an Investor. As an Investor, I have to consider the risk, possibilities, opportunities, tax management, environmental policy, situational analysis and many more. It's a crucial thing to be conscious of these matters. Investors can not invest everywhere without verifying every important aspect. In my way to business investment, Gladstone Morgan has helped me as an active partner. They have helped me to analyze the situation. They provided me the perfect plan to invest accurately. I developed my business goal and completed my 3 years objectives. Now I am still with them and I have kept them as my partner. One thing I will suggest all that always read their policy and systems before doing anything with them. Financial matters need clarification. Otherwise, you may misunderstand many thing. Thanks

Excellent Financial advice

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I recently met with Dino Zavagno from Gladstone Morgan to discuss my saving goals. I got the sense from my discussions with Dino that his approach is one where the customer (me) is definitely his number one priority. The advice he gave me was very detailed and he raised a number of issues that I had not even considered. In fact had I not consulted with him I would have made several rather costly mistakes in both the short term and the long term. I was extremely happy to have been recommended Gladstone Morgan and I am confident that with their advice and guidance I will reach my financial goals ahead of the schedule I originally imagined. I would certainly have no problem recommending Dino to other people.

Please do not trust this company.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Please read. This company states they are a financial advisors and act in your best interest, however my experience with them was completely different. They ripped me of in the tune of 50,000 GBP. Their advisors are not trained and just sell on commission. This was my hard earned pension and this has lest a huge hole. I also complained to Malta financial authorities. Who are still investigating the complaint. Stephen Gibson. Is not to be trusted. I urge all off you please do your due diligence on this company before making any financial deductions.

We have only today become aware of this issue through the post on this website.

We always do our utmost for our clients. We follow standard industry guidelines and procedures in all areas of our business.

Should an issue arise it needs to be lodged through the official channels. There is a standard procedure for dealing with this which we are obliged to follow.

If that has been done then we will obviously be advised accordingly, assuming the regulator feels we have a case to answer.

If there is a genuine issue we would please request that you contact us directly.

Kindest regards

Gladstone Morgan in China

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have seen a lot of bad reviews written on this site which are obviously malicious lies written in the vein attempt to ruin business opportunities for this company. I was contacted by them when I was in China and subsequently used there advice on a short term savings account, that I wanted for my kids. Overall, I am please with their service and the people I dealt with (I'd rather not use names as I am sure this would encourage some trolling from competitors). Feel free to email me if you want my opinion, I will be honest it wasn't all roses but on review and considering the timing of my accounts (pre and post 2008) it was very reasonable. thebucknersfamily2009@***.com

They locked me in to losing funds for 25 years without telling me.

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone with experience investing at Gladstone Morgan can help me. I started my savings with them in 2006 when I was teaching in Shanghai. Since that time my savings have consistently lost money and in total have lost 40% of the entire value. I have asked to withdraw my funds. However, I was told by Gladstone Morgan that my funds are locked in for 25 years and if I withdraw I must pay 76% of the remaining value to them. I have thoroughly reviewed the contract together with Gladstone numerous times and cannot see anywhere in the contract stating my funds are locked in or I must pay penalties. I’m feeling cheated and am very worried about what will happen to the remainder of my savings. These are supposed to be for my children’s education. I didn’t get anywhere trying to deal with Chris, Joanne or Toro. Can anyone offer some advice?

Didn't you know before about their retirement policy or insurance policy before?

You must understand that they are nothing but sales people, selling products and collecting commissions.

I am a retired compliance officer at CitiBank. I hope I can offer some guidance to you.

Any legitimate firm, regulated institution or fund group usually keep advice records, signed by the customer and they will have an official complaints process.

You can direct a complaint to the adviser/broker, then the financial institution holding your investment and finally the financial ombudsman if you feel the first two do not offer a satisfactory response.

In my experience, some savings products are designed to provide a capital return in the medium to

long term (10-25 years, for such things as education costs or retirement) usually have a "lock in" ONLY for a short period such as 6-18 months (your earliest investment amounts). After

this, the investments you make on a regular basis over the life of the plan are usually accessible before the end date if required. If you only have money that are "locked in", it would suggest you stopped your investment early (somewhere within the 6-18 months) and therefore have to wait for only a small amount of your capital to be available at the point of your original goal date. Normally, if you break the terms, it does not benefit the adviser.

If your adviser did not keep good records, have anything about the advice with your signature on or NOT suggest that you save a greater percentage of your available income in cash (depending on your Cash position but therefore not tying up too much of those available savings into a longer term investment), you may have a valid point for some sort of compensation.

Otherwise, as another way of looking at it is this. If you had bought a property in 2006 (as stated), you may have found that due to the financial crisis, the value of that property dropped considerably. At that point, if you stopped servicing the loan (with regular payments), the property would be re-possessed (at great cost to you). Posting your anger and disappointment about the realtor, bank or system would not change the sad and unfortunate reality of the situation and how things work.

You would simply have to face this fact or continue payments until such time that the property regained value and could be sold. That choice is one that only you can make and have to face given the entire circumstances. I hope this has been helpful to you both in terms of the official process and alternative comparison.

I cannot comment further without knowing the full facts of your situation but this is something you can take up with the relevant bodies or simply manage what you have until you can "sell" at a better point in the future. Good luck and God bless

Gladstone Morgan Scam by Ian Bell and Chris Golding

This is a warning to all expatriates living in Shanghai to be cautious of unlicensed and unregulated financial advisors such as Ian Bell and Chris Golding of Gladstone Morgan. One of their recent recruitment job listings was searching for "sales consultants" for "cold calling" with "no financial experience necessary." - Sounds like something from the boiler room movie. I was sold a QROPS "Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme" by Ian Bell at Gladstone Morgan in 2010 for its supposedly tax benefits, now 2013 I have discovered that my Pensions value has dropped by 40% and Ian Bell has pocketed 20% of that as his commission. I was miss-sold and mis-lead and as being in Shanghai i am not protected by the UK FSA (Financial Services Agency), if we was in the UK then these guys would be classed as criminals.

Kindly note that I have been also scammed by Gladstone Morgan International, where they had a base in UAE and solicit and go after people pension, they trick them into services, financial advise and investment while they never tell you about their scam in taking 11% which they call it commission. You will not see this on the contract, the forge signatures and add the amount without you knowing about it.

They withdraw your pension money without you know nor permission. The pension ends up with lots of commissions and fees and charges and lose more money on a monthly bases.

while they invest the money for themselves and when you ask for your money on retirement you will find that that they scammed you by taking their so called commission on the first day of the contract. I am making my life mission to ensure that Gladstone Morgan International are exposed and justice to take place for everyone else who got scammed and I

I have always felt that anyone involved in this bile should have a good old rogering. Back in my day at boarding school, we had a system and boy did that work, if you didn't do what you were told and jump to it then it would be soggy biscuits for a week and a good old buggering.

We rogered them senseless!! Those naughty little boys could not sit for weeks and if it was a repeat offender then it would phallic time and quadruple "gary" - gave a whole new meaning to the name "toad in the hole" it was like a relay team in there!

Back then men were men and boy were.., well......., fodder.., we always did them dry and without a condom, if they were lucky we would use a little spit, but that was all and the best part was, after we finished off inside their jacksy we would make them lick of the brown.

Looking back, how many of these boys pulled this kind of baloney eh???? None! They all went on to play the role of "top" and to *** the next generation of would be scallywags.

There are lesions here which are:

1.

Rogering bloody-well works 2. It's fun and you always get to "pop your cookies" and no one gets pregnant. 3. If you are down the clinic getting tested, then you are not out ripping people off 4.

You are a better citizen, if you cannot sit then OAP's can sit down in your place on the bus 5. Team building. It takes a lot of cooperation if 4 of you need to get into a jacksy at once. 6.

You have more empathy with your future girlfriend/wife when she refuses the tradesman's entrance.

In summary, whoever has rogered this lot, did so with a chicken-neck and didn't invite his chums. Unbelievable!

Sorry to hear about your experience. Many British expats have encountered such issues, and it is a good thing to bring these things up for the public at large to see.

I have three questions though.

If you believe what you said is true then may I suggest you submit a complaint letter to China Securities Regulatory Commission (equivalent UK FSA) with the UK embassy cc'd to it? They should be able to iron things out. As an expat you should be well-informed about this right?

Secondly, can you provide a screenshot of the value of your pension funds or the very least contract signed between you and the company just so as to give credence of what you just said?

Posting such numbers and info is not wrong but without evidence (especially in the net where you can make almost anything up) your case doesn't really hold much weight, I'm afraid.

Thirdly, Gladstone Morgan is licensed and regulated by the CSRS. I don't want to be the one to say it but your first statement alone kind of undermined your whole case...

And considering the competitive, almost cut-throat (literally) levels in the Shanghai sector it won't surprise me that this may be just another of the Chinese tactics to slander its British/expat competitors. As a British expat myself living here, I am quite aware of the rampant yet silent racism towards us.

This piece may just be an example of racism manifest.

Not saying Anonymous is one but I let the readers judge for themselves.

Gladhill Furniture of Middletown. Not Gladstone Morgan

Original review Jun 08, 2013
Mid January my husband and I ordered a bedroom suite from Gladhill Furniture, it was finally delivered on May 30th. As soon as the first piece was uncovered I told the delivered people to put it right back on the truck, however after considering that my husband was not home I allowed the rest to be unloaded so he could have time to see it. Each piece of furniture has a blotchy, uneven finish. The owner of Gladhill came out to see it and said he would do nothing to help us and "Mr. Gladhill" said that was normal and he would let his lawyer handle it! We are stuck with a VERY EXPENSIVE bedroom suite that is so defective! I am just shocked that they have no customer satisfaction policy! My husbands solution would be to just set it on fire...lol.
